Who: Minato and Gentarou
What: A special sort of training.
Where: the fields outside Ponyville
When: 13th, mid-morning
Warnings: Yelling, friendship, and yelling about friendhip.

It was good to be back in Ponyville again, but it was bittersweet. He had friends here, yes, but once this was all done, he knew he'd have to be back in Waverly Bay, to help with their troubles there. His time here was limited, and he had to make the best of it. Strengthen his bonds with his friends, and learn all he can from them to keep their memories alive, wherever he might be taken in this crazy universe. He's gotten a lot already, but there's one thing he's always wanted to be able to do, which is why a quick scroll message was sent out to Gentarou, along with a time and location:

"I want to learn the Rider Kick. Think you could help with that?"

Minato didn't need to wait too long, considering that the time and date was of course, fairly soon. Pretty soon, Gentarou came zooming up on his cycle which had managed to stay around for the last few times he had been there.

"Yo!" Exclaimed Gentarou, getting off his bike.

Talk about punctual. Minato waves in response.

"Hey. Sorry for the short notice. I think we're all on borrowed time here."

"That's fine, I realize that. So, the Rider Kick. There's several and you can tailor from the basic one."

Gentarou pointed at a tree as he took a stance to demonstrate the posture. "The easiest one to learn is the running Rider Kick from Kuuga. It requires you to focus energy into your leg, and it marks the basis of most Heisei Rider kicks without some form of self propulsion."

Getting right into it, huh? Works for him. Minato does his best to copy the stance. It's a little hard as a pony, but he manages to pull something resembling the right pose.

"The key here is momentum," said Gentarou, shifting his stance. "First you concentrate energy into the kicking foot."

His foot began to glow with the rainbow hues of friendship energy, cosmic energy. "Then you take a running start, and go like this!"

And he charged forward, doing a front flip which spun into a forwards kick. The kick impacted on the tree, damaging it.

"Now you try."

Concentrate energy? Minato was never able to do that. Not usually how his abilities work. Then again, they were in Equestria, so all bets were off.

He takes a breath, and focuses. Remembering all his friends. Those he made in Iwatodai, those on the Thor, those in Equestria, and those in Waverly Bay. He knows there's power in it, and he's drawn on it before, but not like this.

eventually, there's a bit of a spark, but aside from that, nothing. He'll have to practice more. Regardless, he goes in for the kick anyway. That much he can do. He runs at the tree, then beats his wings once to send himself into a flip, striking the tree in the same place Gentarou did. It's not as damaging, but there's definite impact.

"...I think I should get the kick itself down first. Not used to using my friendships like that."

"It'll take time," said Gentarou, clapping Minato on the shoulder.

"Don't worry about getting the power down first, work on your form. Try again then?"

Minato nods, "Sounds good."

He backs up to go at it again a few more times. It'll take him a while to get the hang of it, but he's no stranger to fighting, so it comes to him fairly quickly.

"Spring off with your back hoof, there you go," suggested Gentarou during the tries.

"Good, good, keep a steady pace and don't slow down before the jump!"

After about twenty minutes and three fallen trees with Gen's help, Minato's got the basic kick down, and a few of them he's even managed to put some energy behind. He'll practice more on his own, but there might be other stuff to learn from Gen.

"What sort of variants are there? Think any might benefit from wings?"

"Well there's Wizards kick. He goes straight up and does a triple axle in the air before coming down." said Gentarou. "With wings you can probably do it.

I'll have to transform for that one, I can't get the air time I used to."

One quick transformation later, and Gentarou activated rocket. "All right, this is how it's done!"

And Gentarou stanced before launching himself into the air. He did a triple axle in the air before coming down with the back hoofed kick.
