But I can't quite tell myself if you're feeling quite the same
Who: Yang and Tadashi
What: Training and Talking
Where: The training grounds outside of Everfree Forest; possibly elsewhere in Ponyville if they move
When: Backdated to the 17th, towards the evening-ish?
Warnings: Some sparring and probably a lot of feelings
Prose or Commentspam: Whichever!
The training grounds that sat just outside the Everfree Forest were alive once more with the sounds of sparring and combat. And the occasional muted explosion. Easy guess as to who the cause of that might be.
Yang and Tadashi had picked up their usual regimen, although since her return and learning that things might be coming to a head against Calice, Yang had stepped up things a little. Previously she'd held back on using her Dust rounds in close-combat against Tadashi, knowing he didn't have full control of his own protective Aura yet and only firing at him from a distance or to blow debris into the air for one reason or another. Lately though, she'd been firing the occasional shot at closer and closer quarters. Never at him directly, knowing that could injure him badly without an Aura to shield him, but sometimes at where his hooves had just been or immediately after he'd successfully blocked one of her attacks so he'd still be able to feel the concussive force and heat that could have made contact there if he hadn't evaded.
There was no telling what kind of power Calice would be packing when everyone finally faced her after all. They needed to be as ready as possible.
Taking a breath, Yang dropped low and spun, kicking a hind leg out towards Tadashi's head.

Unfortunately, he was still having trouble using his Aura. It was definitely there, he could feel it...but for some reason he was still having trouble doing anything with it, despite how much time they've put into training.
But with everything that's going to happen, he's wondering if he still has time to learn.]
no subject
You've gotten faster.
[She pushed back, rearing up for a quick one-two with her hooves.]
no subject
Had a lot of time to learn.
[He ducked to dodge her hooves, using one of his back legs to try and swipe hers from under her.]
no subject
At the apex of her jump, she twisted, angling herself so that she was bearing down towards Tadashi as she began to land, a front hoof pulled back for a punch.]

[Her comment was with regards to Tadashi's movements and it was a good thing he had rolled out of the way too as Yang purposefully discharged a flare as her hoof impacted with the ground, sending up a small fiery explosion. The flames had mostly dissipated by the time Tadashi had sprung back at her but some of the heat from her own Aura was still there as Yang braced herself to intercept him. She kept her center of balance low, preparing to flip him up and over her unless he figured out her intentions.]

no subject
C'mon, Tadashi, you've gotta push through that!
no subject
Yeah, I know...
[It was how that was the question, as he ran at her again.]
no subject
It wasn't really directed at Tadashi though, even if he was currently taking the brunt of it. All this Aura training had been her idea. So Tadashi would have a way to protect himself. And, as with most things, she'd thought she could handle it. No problem! If Pyrrha could get Jaune from being, well, Jaune, to being something resembling a proper Huntsman, than surely she could show Tadashi how to use Aura well enough to at least keep himself from dying...]

Yang grit her teeth at the thought, turning and planting her fore-hooves into the ground so that she could launch a powerful kick with her back legs towards Tadashi. In one fluid motion, she twisted back around and lashed out with her foreleg, a flare launching for where she assumed Tadashi wouldn't be even before she had fully completed her spin.]
no subject
Whoa - !
1/2
2/2
Tadashi!!
no subject
The dust isn't enough to cover his pained cry, though, or the sound of his body as it hits the ground.]
no subject
Stupid, that was stupid, that was SO STUPID.
She never should have gotten so impatient that it clouded her judgement in a fight. ...Again.
Least of all in a training match, and especially not one with Tadashi. She may have seriously hurt him. Or worse.]
Tadashi, are you okay??
no subject
Ugh...y-yeah, I...I think I'm okay...
[If there was confusion in his voice, it's because he was surprised by how okay he felt. It didn't sound like he was too hurt either.
That might have something to do with the strange glow around him, though.]
no subject
...Tadashi...
[Her voice sounds a little breathless and awed.]
no subject
Probably more surprised that he is okay right now.]
...Huh. I expected that to hurt more.
no subject
[Speaking of things that should hurt more, hopefully Tadashi's Aura could withstand one more projectile as Yang suddenly all but tackled him from the side, hugging her forelegs tightly around him.]
That totally could have killed you but your Aura protected you. Look!!
[She pulled back enough to gesture with her head towards the glow surrounding him.]
1/2
Whoa!
2/3 I lied
Huh?
3/3
And then he's grinning widely, his eyes lighting up in excitement.]
Oh MAN!
[He's practically bouncing in place right now, even as he holds onto Yang to return the hug, because it actually worked!]
no subject
You did it! You did it!
[There was genuine relief in her voice now alongside the cheer.]
This is amazing, Tadashi. Once you've got this down, you'll be able to protect yourself.
[She glanced aside at him, smiling excitedly.]
You'll be able to go home.
no subject
[Even as the excitement calms down, he's still hugging her. Because part of him still had doubts about ever getting to this point. And even now, he wasn't sure this would entirely work.
But there was a chance now, at least, which was a lot more than he had before.]
Thanks to you.
no subject
[She was giggling as she spoke, but the sound melted off into something softer as she shook her head.]
It's your Aura. Your soul.
This is all you.
[She couldn't really take credit there.]
no subject
Still...I never would have managed it without you.
no subject
Come on. One more round and then we're going out to celebrate.
[She grinned a little.]
I wanna see you do that again.
no subject
I guess it'd be a good chance to see if I can do it on purpose...
no subject
[She trots out a few feet ahead and then turns to face him, squaring off.
It was a short match but even so there was no denying that Tadashi had much greater passive control over his Aura. Yang's hits still hurt of course, but the damage was minimal, and those few bruises and scrapes healed quickly.]
That was great!!
[She was beaming at him as she did a couple of cool-down stretches.]
And it's only gonna get easier with practice. How do you feel?
no subject
[Tadashi, meanwhile, was sprawled out on the grass, his hat slightly askew as he lay just trying to catch his breath after the workout.]
...Like I kept running into a brick wall...
[Despite the comment, he was grinning all the same. Because honestly, it was an improvement over how their training sessions could usually go.]
no subject
I'll take that as a compliment.
[With a grin fit to match his, she stepped over and then exaggeratedly flopped herself beside Tadashi. Taking a deep, contented breath in, she glanced aside at him.]
Feels good, doesn't it?
no subject
Actually yeah...It really does.
no subject
Just wait. You're really gonna feel amazing the day you figure out your Semblance.
no subject
no subject
Come on, after you've got your Aura all sorted out, it's only gonna be a matter of time before you find your Semblance too.
It'll be great!
[She glances at him, her smile a little coy.]
Unless it ends up being something totally lame. Then it won't be so great.
And I won't be able to be seen with you anymore, sorry.
[Best friend.]

Somebody's got to.
[Her tone is joking, although if Tadashi happens to look, he'll notice she looks at him for perhaps just a second too long.
It's gone a moment later though as she rolls over to get her hooves under her, a grin plastered over her face.]
So! I think I promised a little celebration. Got any place you wanna go?
no subject
Y'know...I'm kinda in the mood for a hayburger.
no subject
Hayburgers, it is.
We can stop at Sugarcube Corner and get cupcakes or something later.
[Ask them to put "Congrats on not dying" in icing on it.
Her smile quirks a little.]
Or swing by the Decanter for a couple drinks?
no subject
[Which was funny, given the number of occasions they'd gone to the Decanter.]
Besides, I'm still wonder how okay it is for you to be there.
no subject
What? You know I wouldn't be in there if it wasn't okay.
[She feels perfectly okay in a bar. Now whether she should be there "legally" on the other hand...]
no subject
Right, okay.
