Ah Told Ya Ah Can Walk!

What: Lyra's sulking in her hospital room. Come bug her.

Lyra was trying to read quietly. Read quietly was the key word. They hadn't taken away her scroll or anything so she could still bug ponies on the scrolls, and she was riddling with toys and stuff she had picked up at her first trip down to the gift shop, but other than that, she was bored. Bored, bored, bored, bored, bored. She insisted she could walk, and she could do so with the minimal amount of pain, and yet, augh.

Looking over at Twilight who had been her constant companion, she decided to get up. If she could... The door could open and she could bolt at any time... oh wait, there's the IV. Drat.

"Feel like taking another walk?" Twilight asked, glancing over at her fellow unicorn. Anyone would get restless lying around in a hospital bed, but Lyra was always a difficult one to keep from moving around. Somewhere as bad as Rainbow Dash.

"I kinda want to," said Lyra with a little pout. "And none of those wheelchair walks either. I told you all I can walk just fine...!"

"And I believe you, but you know the doctor said you should stay off of your hooves for a few more days..."

"I just wish I could go without the IV," snorted Lyra. Darn thing always felt weird poking into her hoof like that. "I'm not low on fluids at all!"

"It's a precaution. That creature altered your body in ways unknown to Equestrian medicine; they just want to protect you from every side-effect they can."

"It wasn't That Creature. It was me. The ugly side of me." Huffed Lyra. "That little nagging monster that we can become, if we're left unchecked. Even if we don't become that physically... I still say it's the truth."

While Lyra's words have philosophical truth to them, Twilight still gives her a blank stare.

"No offense, Lyra, but if you're going to take away a moral from all of this, it should be to not put everything you find in that dungeon in your mouth."

"I swear on Celestias perky, er, well, anywho, those fruits had a hypnotic effect. I couldn't help myself. It was like I just had to eat it." retorted Lyra. But she huffed. "But I suppose I shouldn't put everything into my mouth..."

"Considering what those fruit do when you eat them, I wouldn't put it past them to lure victims in like that. Everything else, however, should be more manageable."

Twilight's expression softens. "At least study them first, okay?"

"I promise. Honestly... if I can grab one of the belts we found, I might be able to study them better and prevent ponies from getting into them like I did," replied Lyra. "There's a chance we could find something neat about them."

"Well if you really need one, I can lend you mine. I...haven't exactly been using it too often." Really, Twilight was just fine with her magic, but others insisted that she chip in to get her own items from the haul. They all worked out nicely, at least.

"Wha? Naw, keep it. You weren't around for the movie night when we discovered the show that those seeds are from. Those belts bond to the user. If you actually put it on, it'll lock to you instead of letting others use it. The upside is that it's actually mass produced." Lyra shrugged. "One of those natty human Rider things."

"I think Gen told me something like that when I asked him about the fruit and their connection to these belts." She rubbed her chin with a hoof. "Still, that doesn't mean I can't contribute until you get your own belt, right?"

"Well that's true. If I study your own lock seed that came with it, I could figure something out. Well, together at least." Lyra offered her a grin. "After all you've been here with me since I got admitted. The least I can do is involve you in the research, right?"

Nephenee knew that tedium and needing to move after getting stuck in a hospital bed all too well; it'd been maybe a month since she had been in this position. While she didn't know Lyra...at all, really, she was immensely happy she was alive after all that had happened, and wanted to come check on her. So, after purchasing a get well card and some lovely flowers, the fighter came up to the room's door and knocked. "Miss Lyra? May Ah come in?"

"Hey! Come on in, I'm bored out of my mind!" Lyra set her Anthropology book to the side (such dry reading) and she waited for Nephenee to enter the room. She was glad one of her attackers were here, no, not attackers, saviors. When she wasn't in her right mind of course.

The soldier trotted in, smiling gently, "Ah know how that is, feelin' like ya gotta move about. How are ya holdin' up?" While she spoke, she withdrew the potted mini yellow rose plant from her bag, "Ah got ya these to make the room a little more cheery."

"I'm better at least. I've healed up but the doctors want me bedridden for a while," grumped Lyra but she cheered up immensely seeing the yellow roses. "Oh they're lovely! I didn't think anypony would be getting me flowers. It's usually just food."

Nephenee's smile turned into more of a grin at Lyra's reaction. Yay, cheering up ponies!

"Ah'm glad ya like 'em! Ah wasn't sure what ya liked, so Ah went with these," Yellow was for friendship and joy, after all, "An' they're potted, so ya can jus' water 'em an' they'll stay alive. Happier than stems, Ah reckon. How long they wantin' ya to stay?"

"A few more days, until they're sure I'm not about to go mad and trash the building," replied Lyra with a grumpy pout. But she cheered up considerably with the flowers. "I'm happy though for the flowers mind you."

"...Lyra? Anypony here?"

Rainbow figured that, since she'd caused quite a bit of damage to Lyra even after realizing it was her, she should see how the other pony was doing. Besides, she had to be stuck in the hospital for some time so she knew just how the Unicorn felt when it came to being bored outta her mind!

"Hey, over here," said Lyra, gesturing towards Rainbow Dash. "Thanks for stopping by."

She didn't hold anything towards the other pony, how could she? She fought so earnestly for her sake, even if she didn't know exactly how to get the Inves DNA out of her. "How have you held up for a while?"

"Heh, no problem! My other friends visited me when I was stuck in here, and I figured you could use the company since it's so boring in this place."

Rainbow grinned while making her way over to the other pony. "I'm doing alright, but next time I'll put on some armor before taking on steel-type ponies."

Lyra laughed a little at the last bit, shaking her head. "It wasn't that I was steel-type but you get the idea. A little guard armor if you get into fights might help out."

"And thanks for visiting. This place gets really boring sometimes."

Rainbow laughs herself, nodding in agreement at her latter statement. "Ha, yeah! It's totally boring in this place, and time doesn't even pass until you find something cool to do...like reading."

"Guard armor? Like what they have at the Crystal Empire?"

"Yeah, reading would be okay. I have one of my anthropology books but it's dry reading. And I can't even start research either," grumbled Lyra.

"Yeah, maybe we can ask Twiley if she can get her brother to send you a suit?"

"Heh, anthropology's...kinda okay, but have you picked up a Daring Do book lately? Her stories are awesome! Rainbow noted with a grin.

"That'd be great! I haven't worn one of the Crystal Empire's suits since the time we headed down to save them from King Sombra's return."

"I've re-read Daring Do so many times I think my eyeballs will fall out and I'll have to push em back with a spoon," replied Lyra, laughing. "So yes, I have."

"I'll ask her. She'll probably figure out how to get one sized for you."

"Really? Have you read this one?" She holds up her own personal copy of Daring Do & the Ring of Destiny, with Rainbow right on the cover next to Daring.

"Sweet! Can't wait to check myself out in this new armor! Thanks, Lyra."

"Nooooo I haven't! That looks suspiciously personalized. Did you do AK Yearling a favor or something?" asked Lyra curiously.

"No problem, I'll ask her when I get a chance."

"Hehe, you bet! Sometime in the future, I really help her out. You wanna read it?" Rainbow's grin becomes a smirk.

"Sure, I wouldn't mind! I'll treat your precious book right after all," said Lyra, holding out her hooves to take the book.

"...Thanks, Lyra. I really appreciate it." Rainbow's tone was soft as she held out the book for the Unicorn to take.

"No problem. So, what sort of thing did you do for AK Yearling anyhow?" asked Lyra as she took the book and flipped open to the first page.

"Hehehe, you really wanna know? It might blow your mind." Rainbow warned, pretty sure things had changed enough in this Equestria that she wouldn't have to worry too much about things changing back in her world.

"Sure I'm game. Lay it on me," said Lyra, tracing a page with a hoof.

"Go to the last page. She wrote something for me at the end of the book." Rainbow held up a bookmark for Lyra to use so she wouldn't lose her spot.

"All right, lets see..." Flipping to the last page after placing the bookmark into the first, Lyra read it off and her eyes widened. "Really? Wow, that's something. So AK Yearling is really Daring Do..."
