All Hail The Prince of Darkness
Who: OPEN TO ALL! That means you!
What: Before the biggest night of the year, the biggest day of the year must happen!
Where: Canterlot Castle
When: May 16th - Saturday, before the Gala!
Warnings: None, at the moment! But it might be edited as the week goes on
Prose or Commentspam: Either!
Celestia knew that she needed to time this well. After thinking about it, she decided on the best day to do it. She reached out to Zetta, who was also all right with it, and began preparations.
By the morning of the Gala, everything was ready, just as she'd hoped. Even the most important implement was sufficiently fireproofed. Really, if nothing else went right, at least the crown would be preserved.
And so, a surprise - and urgent - invite was suddenly under everypony's pillow that evening. Just come to the castle three hours before the ball, preferably in Gala clothing or at least proper dress clothing. This was an important occasion - and since the Gala would pretty much be right after, it was more convenient.
The Great Hall and throne room was bright and cheerful, save for one glass pane that was suspiciously covered up, when the ponies arrived. There was no trace of the Gala in the Great Hall, and alongside the dress code, the red carpet in the throne room, the covered window, and the suspicious black banners with a unicorn head seemingly on fire hanging - between Twilight and Celestia's own royal banners - would no doubt help those who came to realize what was happening.
This wasn't a mere summons to the palace for a pre-Gala party.
This was something a little more important.

This was something a little more important.

Not in a hurry to spill the incredible outfits Dame Rarity had made for them, Zetta made his appearance in traditional Overlord style with a classy twist: a suit on beneath his cape, looking surprisingly attractive if you could get past his personality.

"...Huh. I'm not sure if that went over your head or you just had a perfectly blank response. Good work."

Zetta was undeniably an idiot, but this wasn't his first time around the block. 'Overlord' was a title he'd held long before coming here.

She had reasons. All of them which didn't end well.

It was something she had planned to present at the Gala, but now seemed a much better time. Without any hesitation, she walked up to the newest alicorn and gave a slight bow-not the deep bow of fealty, but a shallow bow of respect and courtesy.
"I said it before, but congratulations. I always knew you had it in you to be the kind of person worth a throne."

Her tail swished behind her as her ears twitched forward. She was hoping he would be willing to admit what it was that had made people willing to accept him.

"But I think we've seen that even in a place like this, a ruler has to be ready to fight. So I went ahead and made a little something symbolic of that, that'll actually be able to keep up with a demonic wielder."
She pulled the lid off the box to show, sitting on a lining of purple velvet, a large and dramatically styled sword.
"It's made of the hardest metals I could get my hands on, and it's weighted for a demon lord's strength. I've also added a little enchantment in the spirit of Equestria's values; as long as you're holding it ready, you'll be able to feel the support of everypony fighting with you. Never underestimate the power of motivation."

"Good balance, definitely a nice weight," he said as he turned it. "A fitting gift for an Overlord, and received as such!"
Demonically-speaking, that was a surprisingly sincere thank-you.

"They don't call me the Blademaster for nothing. I hope you like the design, I figured a high profile figure could use a weapon that's as good for show as it is for combat. Not that I ever forge a blade that doesn't have some sort of dramatic appeal."

And here's Prince Warshtafter, beak gaping open at nearly a full 180 degrees, giving the traditional Potoonian celebratory Wark.

"...Was that language? Because if it was, I need a translator."

And stares.
With those giant eyes and that weird, enormous mouth.
Which he then opens again.
"WAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!"

"Ah." Yes, the meaning is clear now. He wonders if this ceremony or whatever they mean to do is being linked to the Gala for convenience, or out of tradition...or possibly to make a point re: offworlders. He seeks the eye of the man of the hour, but doesn't do more than wink at him if he gets it.

Though it was hardly an easy feat considering her own marvelous outfit. She made her dress to match the colors and some of the contours of his suit along with a light collar of feathers to go with the the theme of her Gala Mask that she would dawn later. Her point was to let everyone know they were without a doubt a couple and perhaps one of the more important ones of the evening. Rarity even styled her hair with a more.. elegant and wavy look than she normally did with various gems woven in. If anyone knew anything about her, they could guess what those gems really were. Dame Rarity never went anywhere with out Vorpal.
Her time in the spotlight would come later, for now.. it was all Zetta.

"Ever think you'd be attending one of these as the date of the one getting crowned?"
no subject
A very simple truth. Of course, knowing and.. falling for Zetta before his ascension definitely helped. Rarity turned her head slightly to get a little better look at his suit just to make sure it was perfect, as always. She really out did herself this time around.

"I wonder if you get an official title out of this. Something like Consort or... do you end up an honorary Princess or something? You deserve it more than the current quote-unquote Prince, that's for sure."
no subject
And it would take her a lot of convincing to a certain Knight-Commander to give up that title, or perhaps... take on a new one if it were presented. She was proud of the fact that she earned the one she had, even if it was in a different Equestria and not honored here as much as she wished it to be.
"But, Consort may have an interesting ring to it."

"...And perhaps we shall ask Luna or Celestia about titles later, after the Gala."
